BOYCOTT: Saint Augustine, Florida's Tourist Industry!
Eliminate Protectionist Laws that ban Art, Music, and Newspapers!
City ordinances: 2000-03, 2000-09, and 2000-41.
RATIONALE: Saint Augustine, Florida, a 'tourist destination' which bills itself as the 'Nation's Oldest City' currently has on its books, three laws that ban art, music, and newspapers!
These freedom robbing, protectionist laws, were passed under the guise of; facilitating 'public safety, [existing laws are adequate] 'protecting the merchant economy' [no receipts were ever shown] and insuring the 'aesthetic attractiveness' of the city. [The self serving MEpublican trolls that passed these laws are themselves not anything special to look at!]
The real intent of these laws is to eliminate competition and control wages! A dash of elitist bigotry was also responsible for their creation and passage into law!
Thousands of citizens have been harassed, many have been arrested, many threatened and driven from the city, some have even died [John Victor Powers, a homeless person, and his adorable little photogenic dog, Ewokee, who used to pose in John's bicycle basket for tourist's pictures in down town Saint Augustine, are now both dead! John was threatened with having his little companion Ewokee 'put to sleep' if he persisted in posing for pictures and taking tourist dollars away from the greedy Saint Augustine business community. Fearing for his dog's life, John fled the city, and pedaled his rickety old bicycle with Ewokee in the basket all the way to Key West. Over three hundred miles away! Soon after their arrival poor little Ewokee was run over and killed. John, a diabetic and an alcoholic, died in the Key West jail a short time later. They both would more than likely be alive and here today had they not been run out of town! There are those that believe the people who threatened John Victor Powers, using the 'color of law', are guilty of third degree murder!], and millions of Americans have been denied their Constitutional rights in Saint Augustine!
Jane Cole, a retired school teacher protested and was arrested for drawing a fish! This is a retired school teacher for god's sake! Janine Newfield, a single mother, was arrested for playing the violin. Scott Raimondo, an internationally collected street scape artist, was arrested! Jeff Masin, the 'One Man Band', considered by many to be a National Treasure, was arrested over 42 times! Bails have been excessive as high as $5000. The 'One Man Band' was just fined $1000 dollars and has finally given up his courageous protest!
City officials and city cops have put bogus testimony in Federal Court proceedings, made night time warrant less raids on private property, and have confiscated, banned, impounded, and even trashed into a dumpster; personal belongings, alternative [Banned!] newspapers, and political street displays!
It is currently against the law to sing 'God Bless America' or draw the American Flag on Saint George Street, the nation's Oldest public forum! That's how bad it is! This is virtually a criminal, 'privatization' of your American public property! Can you imagine?

As this is written, [1/26/02] a mime, Ron Dolan, is currently serving thirty days in the Saint John's County jail for 'performing'! Many citizen's of this community believe that he was engaged in legitimate political protest first, and disobeying 'stained', protectionist scam laws, second.
The Florida, State Attorney, Office of John Tanner [give this turkey the boot the wrong people are going to jail!], has been relentless in prosecuting citizens who have been selectively arrested under these Freedom denying, protectionist scam laws that benefit the tourist industry. Governor Jeb Bush ignored a post card protest campaign!
This has all been going on for well over fifteen years. As soon as one unconstitutional law is overturned, another is immediately passed. Sadly, public opposition is being relentlessly ground down [like elsewhere in America] by this gross criminal abuse of this 'rubber stamp' law making process.
The business community not only benefits from elimination of competition, but also benefits because these laws, fixΉ wage levels, and are used to insure a steady supply of cheap, intimidated, wage pliable labor, to Chamber of Commerce members. The resultant healthy profits these greedy merchants then make on meals, lodging, products, and entertainment, are a direct benefit of the perpertration of this criminal oppression of citizens rights and interference with free market forces.
These greedy Tourist interests in the city also spend local residents tax dollars to advertise in England and Germany for customers. They 'sell' these customers, a contrived revisionist history of Saint Augustine, mean while ignoring the city's true history which is quite onerous.
Some particularly chilling history that has been swept way back under the rug is the public beating by KKK members, many without hoods, of African Americans in the downtown plaza, which contains a slave market! This was going on a mere thirty eight years ago when Martin Luther King was alive and in town. Dr. King was treated to having pool chemicals poured into the pool he swam in yes, he was in it at the time while protesting in Saint Augustine! Will you really feel comfortable visiting here?
What is most disheartening is that these illegitimately enacted laws, and their selective and criminal enforcement, are so transparently protectionist, that they are responsible for a very divisive and festering disrespect for; the government, law enforcement and the business community that promotes them. These laws make mockery of your Bill of Rights and must be struck down! Please join this BOYCOTT.

It does not take a brain surgeon to realize that your American freedoms and your American way of life are under attack and fast disappearing.
A long, slow, incremental process of increasing protectionist corruption initiated by greedy business interests is finally catching up with us.
Your once accessible government, judiciary, and law enforcement, are now almost entirely in the pocket of these self serving, protectionist business forces.
Make no mistake about it the primary cause of your loss of freedom and opportunity and the corruption in your government can be found deeply rooted in these greedy, protectionist, business interests, and the excessive control they exert on your government to legislate on their behalf!
From top to bottom, countless, opportunity denying, protectionist laws across this nation have eroded your freedoms, and prevent you from exercising your God given and Constitutionally guaranteed right to better yourself through your own initiative, creativity and hard work.
These protectionist laws deny you the opportunity to engage in the bootstrap capitalism that would reward you for your own efforts and allow you to gain economic self sufficiency.
The sum total effect of these protectionist laws is to keep you enslaved, and to deny you equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity.
American mainstream media, now almost completely controlled by business interests, has also incrementally gone down this same slippery slope of corruption.
Staffed with toady suck-up, subservient minions who have sold their souls and this country down the river they bombard us daily with biased, censored, feel good crap! They censor most everything you see, read, and hear, that would oppose or diminish the control of their selfish business masters! [The internet now also under attack remains the best means of citizen communicating with citizen. Scream when you see it threatened!] This control of the mainstream media has been instrumental in allowing these greedy protectionist business interests to corrupt and steal control of your government away from you.
A hallmark of the media's sleazy efforts is their disingenuous, hypocritical, chastizing, and incessant lament of people's lack of participation in government when all the while it is their, toady suck-up, subservient pandering, that is a primary cause of that lack of participation!
Our traditional methods of change voting and running for political office have also become corrupted, and are, each day, less and less accessible to the average citizen. The self serving 'Repubocrat' farce of a government in Washington is a shameful national disgrace! No wonder millions of citizens elect not to vote!
In addition, numerous instances of blatant, criminal, political and business corruption are increasing daily.
Value Based Capitalism Vs. Greedy, Protectionist Capitalism.
'The System' is not the problem!
'Capitalism' is not the problem!
Its The Corruption Stupid!
It is well established that these greedy business interests have corrupted our system of democratic capitalism.
Unfortunately, those who have been economically hurt, and deprived of their freedoms and livlihoods by this corruption, mistakenly lash out at 'the system' and 'capitalism' as the cause.
Although their anger is understandable it is misplaced!
There is nothing wrong with our American System of government or capitalism!
It is my own personal belief that our form of government is the best on the planet!
Our Constitution with its Bill of Rights is without equal!
We are all blessed to be Americans and live in this great country!
And capitalism, when practiced with a level playing field that is free of all of these protectionist laws that essentially bestow unfair advantages on the few in control, is in reality a very efficient and fair economic system that allows the individual to gain economic control of his or her own life and be justly rewarded for their own creativity, initiative and hard work.
The real problem is the corruption created by the crooked self serving cockroaches at all levels, in business, and in government! They are motivated by, and watching out for, only their own special interests.
It is their dishonest actions that are responsible for this sorry state of affairs!
It is not the 'system' or 'capitalism' that are to blame. The fact is that capitalism can be your salvation! What I call value based capitalism is the underlying force behind Pocket Power! More Power than a rocket! Its the money in your pocket!
You can Vote with it every day!
But before examining how and why Pocket Power works, it would be wise to first do a little soul searching, and realize that you also share a portion of the blame for allowing America to slide into this sorry state of corruption that it is in.
Yes, those crooks in control have set up formidable barriers that have made participation in government and capitalism almost futile. But it was not always like this. What we have experienced has been an incremental loss of our rights and freedoms.
Our past inactions have now caught up with us.
We are all culpable. It has been our individual complacency, and inattention to our own responsibilities as citizens, that has allowed the situation to become as untenable as it is for ourselves and so many of our fellow citizens. We have allowed an elite business class to gain control of our lives and dominate and suppress our freedoms and opportunities.
Be honest. We are in this predicament because we have not been minding the store!
Make a pledge now to not only recapture control of your government, and your lost freedoms but at the same time pledge to not fall back into your past bad habits of inattention to your civic responsibilities! Pledge to live a new political awareness!
Do not rely on others. We must all do our own work. Over reliance on others only sets the stage for more corruption and dissapointment!
It is time to take action. Learn about, embrace, and practice Pocket Power it is in reality your best choice to regain control of your economic freedom.
Running for office, voting, litigating, participating in visioning committees, and other forms of having your energies dissipated are just what those in power want you to do. This is not to say those efforts are not worthwhile. They are, however, see them for what they really are, and make Pocket Power your primary instrument to effect change!
Pocket Power will also be good for the country by restoring the balance of more normal [read less corrupt] free market forces.

Read the definition of capitalism below and you will see within it the means to regain control from those who have corrupted your government pay attention to the italicized phrase:
Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market
There is a really delicious irony here folks in using value based capitalism to fight greedy, protectionist, capitalism. The key, of course, is in making your private decision to not buy from those who oppress you!
Some would simply call this a boycott. It is. That is the common term. But it is also more . . .
It is also a value based private decision that does not honor those who would corrupt our Constitution with its Bill of Rights. It is a private decision, determined by the individual, where not to invest his money!
By calling it a value based decision it also puts the emphasis on, and creates, a heightened awareness about the fact that you are making a value judgment and in effect you are exercising your responsibility as a good citizen! And, by 'investing' your money carefully, you are participating in capitalism!
It is your choice, your private decision, that will allow you to take back control of your government and your freedom to gain economic self sufficiency in your own life!
You do not have to support by 'investing' your hard earned dollars in businesses, corporations, governments, etc., that have been screwing you and taking away your freedoms!
It is called Pocket Power! More Power than a rocket! Its the money in your pocket!
Think of it as a vote! And you can vote with it every day.
This is a simple concept. It will work! It will put you back in control of your life!
Its success requires that you simply participate by becoming more value oriented in your own life and also communicating those values and acting upon 'Pocket Power Alerts' such as this one.
At the same time, work to gain more knowledge of those who practice value based capitalism, as opposed to those who practice greedy, protectionist capitalism.

The 'Saint Aug Dog', an anti-corruption, arts and entertainment newspaper that is pro freedom and pro Bill of Rights, was first confiscated and banned on March 5, 1998. This prompted the publisher to take the City of Saint Augustine to Federal Court. April 10, 1998 injunctive relief hearing. Newspaper back on street! Federal Jury Trial, January, 31, 1999, Federal Court Ruling: City cops illegally, 'acted under color of law' and law was declared unconstitutional! 'Saint Aug Dog' awarded $23,500. Banned again six weeks later by city ordinance 2000-09. Numerous removals from city streets with arrests of street artists who were engaged in legitimate political protests first, and disobeying 'stained law' second! Confiscated in a night time warrant less search of private property and impounded at City Police Station by SAPD, 5/11/01. Confiscated and trashed into a dumpster in a second night time warrant less search and seizure on private property by the SAPD one week later, 5/16/01.
